Federal Way is a city in King County, Washington, United States, and part of the Seattle metropolitan area. It is 25 miles (40 km) south of Seattle and had a population was 101,030 at the 2020 census. Federal Way is the 10th most populous city in Washington and the fifth most populous in King County.

The city's name originated from a local school district, which named itself for U.S. Route 99 in 1929. The highway was replaced by Interstate 5, which made Federal Way into a bedroom community for commuters. After three votes on incorporation failed, the city was created in 1990. Federal Way has been the terminus of the Link light rail system's 1 Line since 2025.
