Severodvinsk is the second-largest city in Arkhangelsk Oblast, Russia. It is located in the oblasts north, in the delta of the Northern Dvina, 35 kilometers (22 mi) west of Arkhangelsk, the administrative center and most populous city of the oblast. As of the 2021 Census, the population was 157,213. Due to the presence of important military shipyards (specialising in submarines since the Soviet period), Severodvinsk is an access-restricted town for foreign citizens. A special permit is required.
