Świerczewo

Świerczewo is an administrative neighbourhood forming a subdivision of the West district in the city of Szczecin, Poland. It is a residential area consisting of mid- and high-rise apartment buildings in several housing estates. The neighbourhood has an area of 2.44 km2 (0.94 sq mi), and in 2025, it had a population of 13,986 people. Świerczewo was founded in the 14th century as a farming community. Its population drasticly increased in the early 20th century, with the development of a low-rise single-family suburb, and was incorporated into Szczecin in 1911. The area was later fatherly expanded with development of a few housing estates of apartment buildings later throughout the century, including in the 1930s, the 1980s, and the 1990s. The neighbourhood features the historic St. Catherine Church, a former Gothic Lutheran temple, dating to the 15th century, prior to 1424.
