Dunaújváros is an industrialcity with county rights in Fejér County, Central Hungary. Situated 70 kilometres (43 miles) south of Budapest along the Danube, the city is best known for its steelworks, the largest in the country. It was built in the 1950s on the site of the former village of Dunapentele and was originally named Sztálinváros, before acquiring its current name in 1961. In the 17th century, it was called Rácpentele, after the large number of Serbs (Rács) who inhabited the village while it was still under Ottoman rule.
