Kladno is a city in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 70,000 inhabitants, making it the largest city in the region. It lies near Prague, mainly in the flat landscape of the Prague Plateau.

Kladno has a rich industrial history and is still known primarily for its industry. From the mid-19th century, bituminous coal was mined in the area around the city, which led to the rapid growth of the city and the emergence of the steel industry. Kladno is considered the cradle of heavy industry in Bohemia. The city is a railway junction.
