Qapqal Xibe Autonomous County in Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture in northern Xinjiang. The only Xibe autonomous county of China, Qapqal borders Kazakhstan's Almaty Region to the west, has an area of 4,430 square kilometers and a population of 160,000 (2000).
